                <text>Desde el siglo XVI, los testigos mejor informados de la realidad lingüística brasileña y paraguaya observaron que los grupos que fueron llamados «tupíes» y «guaraníes» constituían en realidad "una misma gente y lengua". Nos preguntaremos en este artículo cómo y por qué se llegó finalmente a distinguir dos grupos y dos lenguas, tupí y guaraní. Una de las principales conclusiones a las que lleva un examen atento de las fuentes del siglo xvi es que el etnónimo «tupí» fue acuñado por los españoles para referirse a los indígenas de las costas del Brasil portugués. En cambio, "guaraní" se refería preferentemente a la lengua hablada en los amplios territorios explorados por los españoles, entre la isla de Santa Catarina y los contrafuertes de los Andes, pasando por Asunción. También observamos que el guaraní, contrariamente al quechua o al tupí, no recibió la denominación de "lengua general" sino de modo muy tardío y excepcional.</text>

A partir de novembre 1973, a la suite de la mise en oeuvre par le gouvernement brésilien de deux plans successifs de développement axés sur une exploitation intensive de l'Amazonie, les yano­mami se sont trouvés confrontés brutalement dans plusieurs régions de leur territoire a des contacts massifs avec le front d'expansion de la soclété nationale [Ramos 1979: 5]. De 1970 1974 le 'Plan d'Intégration Natío­nale' (P.I.N.), initiative du gouvernement mili­taire du général Médici reposait sur un doublé souci géopolitique : Combier le vide démogra­phique des régions frontalières amazoniennes pour y assurer la souveraineté nationale bréslilienne et désamorcer le danger politique que cons­titue le Nord-Est du pavs surpeuplé et rendu explosif par sa structure foncière féodale. Un mouvement de colonisation populaire a charge de l'Etat devait remplir ces objectifs en s'appuyant sur une infrastructure d'environ 15,000 km de routes transamazoniennes. La méconnaissance du milieu, le manque d'infrastructure et la réticence du secteur privé devant le projet firent rapidement de la colonisation de la Transamazonienne [TAM* une 'expérience pilote' désastreuse…" // &#13;
