Este es un estudio de caso de Epaa, mujer de 28 años, que inesperadamente y sin aparentes motivos se quitó la vida, dejando tras de sí numerosas incógnitas. Este trabajo etnográfico ofrece una breve aproximación al suicidio huaorani en el área de Toñampari, para seguidamente abordar dos objetivos centrales: 1. describir con detalle el suicidio de Epaa , y 2) reflexionar sobre los factores profundos que ayuden a entender el comportamiento de la protagonista. En las conclusiones se destaca el sentido práctico del chamanismo como explicación, y la posible influencia de la palabra como elemento de contagio.
