Title A name given to the resource Lenguas generales y política lingüística en la Amazonia peruana durante la Colonia Description An account of the resource "Durante la conquista y la colonia los españoles usaron de una clasificación funcional de las lenguas, en la que se distinguía dos clases: "lenguas generales" y "lenguas particulares". Una lengua general era un idioma de una región o zona multilingüe que servía como vehículo de intercomunicación entre hablantes de lenguas particulares. Los europeos mostraron una simpatía evidente por las lenguas generales, pues éstas les permitían una más amplia comunicación, haciendo innecesaria la exigencia de conocer todas las lenguas de una región. Se suele hablar de cuatro lenguas generales en el Perú: quechua, aymara, puquina y mochica.
